    Method

Prompt set. 1200 English prompts across 6 categories, asked once a day from a US IP with a logged-out session and search allowed. Each answer is parsed for cited URLs and brand names.

Score. For each prompt we compare today's cited domains and mentioned brands with yesterday's (Jaccard distance), weight sources 60% and brands 40%, average across prompts, and scale to 0–10. A day near 3.5 is typical for ChatGPT; even unchanged models return different sources on repeat runs.

Sub-metrics. Source churn and brand churn are the two inputs above. Search trigger rate is the share of answers that ran a web search. Answer length is the median word count.

Reasons. A day is tied to a ChatGPT change only when the change has a public date within 3 days before the move. Other days are described by which input moved; they are not attributed to a cause.

Historical scores. Scores before daily collection began are modeled estimates built around the dated ChatGPT changes listed on this page.
